Humankind's First Fundraiser a Sold-Out Success
June 20th HK honoured World Refugee Day with its first fundraising event. Terry McLeod of CBC radio MC'd the sold-out evening at the University of Winnipeg. Diversity Food Services served a delicious Indian dinner, Noma Sibanda sang an original song and Rwandan dancers entertained. Speakers shared about life and schooling in Dadaab, what it means to be a refugee, and HK's vision and latest organizational developments. 21 people became Friends of Humankind with a commitment to regular monthly giving for HK and another 20 gave donations. The evening raised $5500 profit. Thank you to everyone for their tremendous generosity and support.
